In academic research, important questions rarely have simple answers, so the authors are expected to consider both counterarguments (views that are contrary to his/her own) and counterevidence (evidence that runs counter to the author’s claims). Only when the author admits some legitimacy to counterarguments or counterevidence can s/he show objectivity and fairness. The admission strategy used is concession. Here are several concession statements. Decide which part of the sentence the author concedes (choose from A or B), and whether it is a counterargument (CA) or counterevidence (CE) (choose from C or D).
